Originally from the far north of Cameroon, Vivien Kebfoube, known as Armand Kebfoube, was born in Boklé-Garoua. His artistic journey began with a curiosity for sculpture, which quickly transformed into a passion. Without formal academic training, he learned primarily through observation and practice, striving to perfect his technique despite family reluctance.
Armand Kebfoube also became involved in dance, joining a company in Europe, which led him to settle in France. This change of context required a great deal of adaptation, but he persevered in his artistic practice.
Today, Armand Kebfoube dedicates himself to sculpture, working mainly with wood to explore both abstract and figurative forms. His work highlights symbolism linked to African culture, particularly through representations that evoke beliefs, rituals, and traditional figures. He also occasionally uses stone as a base, combining it with wood to reinforce his concepts.
His art reflects a constant search between tradition and contemporary expression, blending the materiality of wood with forms that suggest states, powers, or invisible forces. Armand Kebfoube has exhibited his work on several occasions and has started his own company to support his artistic practice.
